The American Tonalist Clark Greenwood Voorhees was born in New York City in 1871. He was a graduate of Yale (1891), Columbia (1894), and also studied at the Julien Academy in Paris. He exhibited at The National Academy, The Carnegie Institute, The Art Institute of Chicago, and The Boston Arts Club, etc. Voorhees was awarded a bronze medal in the St. Louis Exposition (1904) and the Hallgarten prize at The National Academy in 1905. His name is most often associated with the art colony in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
