DSP-10 Command Summary - version 3.80  23k

Two pages, printable front and back, on one piece of paper in pdf format.

User Manual DSP-10 - version 3.80

Mike, KD7TS has made available online the pages and pages of documentation for the DSP-10.  The Manual ver 3.80 is on his web site and is very easy to use.   It has a Table of Contents , that is indexed  to take you right the the area you are interested in reading about.  Very Slick!

Mike has provided a download zip file that you can retrieve and unzip it into the directory you wish on your computer and you will have the DSP-10 Manual available for immediate use. I downloaded this and made shortcut to the MAN4.HTM file and placed it on my desktop for easy access. Sure works Great and you don't have to be on the internet to use it.

Check it out: It is worth having on your computer for a quick reference.

DSP-10  Initial Setup Testing

This takes the QST initial Test article and shows the modifications and test procedures in RED used by KO7N and W7CQ  as to what we did to get the TAPR kit  DSP-10 operating.   Hope it helps.

 DSP-10  -  Software Defined Radio

The DSP-10 is a two-meter ham-radio transceiver design by Bob Larkin, W7PUA, using a DSP processor for the IF and audio. Details of the DSP-10 were published in QST magazine for September, October and November of 1999.The DSP-10 can be used for very weak signals communications and has special features for use with microwave transverters.

Full Documentation for the DSP-10 is found on the W7PUA web page

DSP-10 E-Mail Reflector

All aspects of the DSP-10 project are discussed and information distributed on the dsp-10@qth.net email reflector. You can send an email to the reflector after you subscribe and it will then be sent to all subscribers of the list. This will give a way for all those interested in the project to share their questions, answers and experiences, quickly and informally. If you want to get this email news on the DSP-10 project, send an email:

Only two words in the message: subscribe dsp-10

If there are any problems, go to http://www.qth.net and you can read more and fill out a form. After you subscribe, you will receive full information on using the reflector. DSP-10 list archives are at qth-net DSP-10 Archives

W7PUA Wins ARRL 2000 Technical Innovation Award

from QST September 2001 pp. 67-68

Bob Larkin, W7PUA, helped introduce software defined radios, or SDRs, into the Amateur Radio lexicon, with the design and publication in QST of the DSP-10 SDR.  Pioneering hams have built these units and have used them to do unimagined things, like making two-way QRP moonbounce contacts. The DSP-10 has provided a means for the amateur community to learn about SDRs.

Modern digital signal processing (DSP) technology has mage extensive inroads into the domain of hard-wired components. With SDR, software generates radio signals, not a phase-locked loop oscillator, and DSP can generate a signal directly over a surprisingly large frequency range. Software also serves for filtering, automatic gain control and, more importantly, the direct modulation and demodulation of the signals used to communicate.

In the commercial world, SDR can be used over a range of tens of megahertz, with operating modes from "legacy" FM to modern spread spectrum. If a new model is needed, the SDR can be hooked up to a computer and the new program installed--an instant upgrade!  Ham manufacturers are jumping on this bandwagon, too.

Congratulations from W7CQ
