"Crises of Nature: How Humanity Saved the Biosphere"
by Capitalist Crisis Studies - former members of For Ourselves - originally published in January 1977

Critique of Capital's "desire" to justify characterological self-sacrifice via "science" paradoxical to that which it used to depose its theocratic predecessor.

The whole tenor of the ferment which has come to be be called the "ecology movement" has accustomed many of us to think of ourselves as the scourge of the biosphere; virtual intrudersin Nature, whose unwelcome visitation has contributed only disruption and destruction to an otherwise perfectly self-regulated natural harmony, and which visitation can do nothing else. The best we can hope for, we are told, is to minimizethe damage by consuming less, and producing less - especially less of ourselves.

  1. The Tendency of the Rate of Photosynthesis To Fall
  2. The Necessity of Humanity
  3. The Decadence of the Biosphere

Audio

"The End of Prehistory"
Audio presentation by members from and friends of For Ourselves: Council for Generalized Self-Management

What:  3-hour audio (skits & audio cartoons, views & visions, brainstorming discussions, readings)
Comments: (1) production from nearly 30 years ago is not what it is today; (2) opinions and theorizations may be outdated and/or superseded by events and experience.  Nonetheless, several of the skits are hilarious and the theorical analysis & definitions are very useful.  I present it and suggest listening to it in that spirit.
