Milonguero Style Tango with Robert Hauk

Thursday July 10 - August 14 at Tango Beretin
Alex’s studio at 6305 SE Foster (@ Holgate)

The milonguero style is characterized by the very close embrace it is danced in.
This embrace facilitates a very close connection between partners, and is a
framework for a dance of great subtlety and beauty.

7:00 - 8:00 PM Beginning Argentine Tango:         Price $45

We will develop a vocabulary of steps that are immediately useful on the dance
floor.   We will work on the special leading and following techniques required to
dance comfortably in this close embrace.  We will also develop an understanding
of the music.  Most of  all we will have fun dancing.  No previous tango
experience is required for this class, however this class would also be interesting
for a dancer with some experience who is new to this style of tango.

8:00 - 9:00 PM Intermediate Argentine Tango:     Price $45

Intro to Crossed Feet

The situation of crossed feet is very important for the tango dancer to understand.
We will explore this situation, and transitions from the more familiar parallel feet to
crossed feet.  We will develop the most common crossed foot movement, the back
ochos.  We will explore combinations of this new material with the check step turns
from the beginning class and the last intermediate class.

9:00 - 10:00 PM Int/Adv Argentine Tango:          Price $45

Surprising Combinations

This class will develop some surprising and beautiful combinations using changes of
direction and unusual transitions to and from crossed feet.  We will explore boleos
as changes of direction, learning how to do them in a compact and dynamic way.
We will find some unusual and surprising places for boleos.  Finally we will use these
new movements to explore the musicality of the music of the late 40’s and early 50’s.

You do not need a partner to take these classes.

I am offering a discount for high school and college students.  For students the price for
these classes is $25 per class series.

Drop ins are welcome for these classes.  The drop in price is $10 per session, $5 for students.

To sign up contact Robert Hauk at 503-231-7826 robhauk@teleport.com or come to the classes Thursday evening.
