On the eastern end, I-90 ends in Boston, MA just east of I-93 at the Logan Int'l Airport end of the Ted Williams Tunnel. On the western end, I-90 ends in Seattle, WA just west of I-5 between I-5 and the Seattle Ferry Terminal south of the Downtown area. IN WASHINGTON STATE: I-90 crosses Lake Washington from northern Mercer Island into the downtown area of Seattle on a pair of floating bridges, the Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge (eastbound) and Homer M. Hadley Memorial Bridge (westbound and express). These bridges may be closed (along with the WA-520 floating bridge) during bad weather, particularly high wind situations, because of rough water, wind driven spray and the higher possibility of wind and visibility related accidents. In Seattle, I-90 has a set of bidirectional express lanes (not all HOV) that start at its west end, cross Lake Washington and Mercer Island, and end at Bellevue Way (Exit 9) with dedicated ramps to I-405 (Exit 10). These lanes default to the westbound direction except during the afternoon rush hour when thay are changed to eastbound. I-90 also has one HOV lane in each direction from Issaquah (Exit 15) to the western-most connection between I-90 and the I-90 Express Lane on Mercer Island (Exit 8).
