I-495Maine Falmouth, MEI-295 Portland, MEI-95 Maine Portland, ME Falmouth, ME 4 I-495 in Maine is the Falmouth Spur across northern Portland, ME, but WILL REMAIN UNSIGNED. It connects to I-95 on the west end in the north end of Portland. It connects to I-295 and US-1 on the east end in Falmouth. There are no other exits on I-495. In 2004, the Maine DOT will be changing its exit numbers from sequential numbering to milepost based numbering. It will also be redesignating its interstate freeways so that I-95 stays on the Maine Turnpike rather than using its current alignment along the Falmouth Spur. I-295 will continue northward from Portland to Brunswick and onward to Gardiner where it connects back into I-95 at the north end of the Maine Turnpike. The Falmouth Spur will become I-495 but will remain unsigned. I-195 and I-395 will remain as they are. This stripchart reflects all of the above changes. To follow the previous alignment for I-495 in the Maine stripcharts, go to the west (bottom) end of this stripchart and follow the link to I-95. The current alignment of I-495 follows the I-95 stripchart from the Falmouth Spur (Exit 52) to the northern connection with the I-295 stripchart at exit 102/103. I-495 in Maine follows the Falmouth Spur of the Maine Turnpike for its entire length. Toll collection is done at one mainline toll barrier. Collection is by cash or electronic recognition via Transpass (currently not EZ-Pass compatible). EZ-Pass compatibility is expected sometime in 2004. At some point, an additional main line barrier will be set up near Saco on the Maine Trunpike mainline at which point all ramp barriers, including the one on I-495, are expected to be shut down.
