Strip Chart Browser Requirements

Until I have the server-side XSLT translation working, I support only the Internet Explorer browser in the strip chart pages.

Internet Explorer 6

IE6 comes with XML parser MSXML3 which contains the processor for the current W3C recommendation for XSLT. Unless you want to get the XML parser 4, (these pages work quite well with version 3) you don't need to get anything else.

Internet Explorer 4 and 5

Do a file find on 'msxml'. If you have 'MSXML3.DLL' or 'msxml4.dll', you have the current XSLT processor and need no further downloads to view the strip chart pages. If not, you have an earlier version of the XSLT processor and need to update to the current version. Go to http://msdn.microsoft.com, type 'msxml' into the search box in the upper left part of the page and press the 'GO' button. Select the download option for either 'MSXML Parser 3.0 Service Pack 2' or 'Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.0 Service Pack 1' depending on the version you want (version 4 has a faster processor and a few other things that aren't needed for the strip chart pages). Follow the download instructions. If you download version 4, you may need to download a new version of the Microsoft Installer software (a link is provided on the version 4 download page). Version 3 will replace earlier versions. Version 4 sits along side your current version for backwards compatibility because it removes some legacy functionality.

Internet Explorer 3 and earlier

Chances are you not only don't have an XML parser, but your browser will not support it. You should download the current version of IE from Microsoft. You will get MSXML3 with it.

Internet Explorer for Macintosh

The current version of IE for Macintosh (5.2.2) appears to carry the older XML parser which cannot be used with the strip chart pages (although you can try and see what you get). After some looking, it does not appear that Microsoft has upgraded IE for Macintosh to the newer XML parser.
