As a student of Wm. Merritt Chase and Kenyon Cox at the Art Students League N.Y., and in Paris under James McNeil Whistler, David Ericson was considered to be one of the most poetic American painters of the early 20th century. His honors include: Gold Medal, Paris; Silver Medal, St. Louis Worlds Fair; Hon. Mention, Carnegie Institute, Pittsburg. He taught in Duluth Minnesota and Buffalo New York. The Tweed Museum in Duluth has the most extensive collection of Ericson’s work.
