A resource to assist people in helping themselves, using “bibliotherapy” and assistance from volunteer personal coaches.
Bibliotherapy defined: Enhancing one's emotional or mental health through the use of books focusing on psychology and/or philosophy.
Bibliotherapy has been scientifically shown to be as effective as psychotherapy or drug therapy in many cases. It can play an important role in our quest for a happy and fulfilling life.
Combining bibliotherapy with a volunteer coach from the helping professions can greatly enhance its power. Bibliotherapy coaches are not counselors or mental health therapists, but people from the health or teaching professions who volunteer to work with individuals in implementing material from some of the best self-help books.
