President's Corner
The summer has been good for our club. with the turn out for our meetings running 75 to 80 carvers in attendance. Thanks to all the activities our club is doing, we continue to grow in membership, with one or two new members joining us each month.
The Marion County Fair was a lot of fun and successful with folks showing up in record numbers to help our Club demonstrate the art of carving to Fair goers. Many of our members won ribbons for their entries at the Fair. Thanks for all your support. We hope that the Club support for the State Fair later this month is even greater. Please don't forget the annual Club picnic at Bush Park August 26th at 6:00 pm. Bring your favorite pot luck dish, eating utensils, chairs and something to carve. SEE YOU THERE!!!!
Update on the "Wounded Warrior Eaglehead Cane" project. We are planning our next trip to Fort Lewis WA on Friday Sept 26th. At present we have 16 canes on hand, with 26 more canes promised, but not yet completed. With no club meetings scheduled until after we go on the trip I am asking everyone to bring your completed canes to the club picnic this month.
Thanks for your support
Lou Wakefield

A brand new feature has been added to the Capitol Wood Carvers Web site. A new photo gallery is now open for use. Here you can upload your photos, edit your photos, write captions. View photos others
have uploaded.

This is a great place to share photos of your carvings or yourself with everybody. It's simple to use.

To get started go to http://capitolwoodcarvers.org (The club's web site) Click on "Gallery" in side bar menu. You'll have to register the first time you visit to upload pictures, registration isn't necessary to view. Registration is easy and nothing goes beyond the web site. The webmaster (me) gets a notification when somebody has registered, that way I can keep it clean.
