OK, everybody. Here is the response from Garrett Weaver at Pertronix Inc. on how to connect the power source to an Pertronix Ignitor on a vintage Ford. The bottom line is yes, the red wire should be connected to a 12VDC power source to avoid any problems. Also a great thing he mentions is that they are working to improve the instructions that are sent with the units, and also working on improving their web support.
