Resources and Placement
We
are requesting theme camp placement next door to our friends,
The Bomb Bay Tea Company.
http://www.arborealarts.com/bm2008/camp/index1.htm
* We will share camp structures and resources as well
as a common Victoriana/Steampunk theme. Burning Sam is
wild, wild, west, Americana flavor to their Brittanica.
* We will be participating with their camp activities
(tea service) and they with ours (Burning Sam Parade).
* We will provide a 20x20 foot shade structure
plus awning for additional tea service space.
* Bicycle parking area for visitors to the
Bomb Bay Tea Company
* Burn Barrel
*Additional shade for their members
* Additional ambiance, decor and personnel to help carry
out the Tea House and Western Parlour Steampunk theme
* BBT Co. will provide fire safety and recycling, garbage and gray
water evaporation facilities
LEAVE NO TRACE:
* Both Burning Sam and Bomb Bay Tea Company are
committed to Leave No Trace.
* The leaders of Burning Sam are experienced Burning
Man participants and life-long wilderness campers.
* Packaging of all gear and foodstuffs brought
to the playa will be minimized.
* The site will be scoured by a daily MOOP (Matter out of Place)
patrol.
* Small amounts of paper may be burned in the camp burn barrel.
* Handy, large garbage and recycle containers will be disguised
by burlap coffee bags.
* Grey water will be first prevented when ever possible
and then what does occur will be evaporated via burlap
wicking from a small contained pond
* At departure, recycling (aluminum cans will
be donated to Can Camp), garbage and any remaining grey
water will be packed out.
* The site will be walked in a grid by teams of two to collect MOOP.
Richard is MOOP Captain.
* Any small holes from shade structures will be filled
and the surface tamped flat.
* Solar power will be the source of choice for lighting, with additional
power needs supplied by rechargeable batteries and propane fuel
for cooking
FIRE SAFETY:
* The burn barrel will be positioned 20 feet away from any structures
or
flammable objects.
* It will not be in use during high winds or other unsafe conditions.
* There will be a camp member assigned to fire watch duties when
it is in use.
* Five gallons of water and a fire extinguisher will be on hand
at all times.
* The Burn barrel will be covered and secured when
not in use in order to prevent becoming a garbage collection container.
* Ashes will be removed when cool and stored with garbage and hauled
home.
