Joseph Chciuk's descendants, listed above, form only a small part of the American Chciuk genealogy. There are also two Adam Chciuks and their descendants, Clayton Chciuk's descendants, and a lot of others. Furthermore, there's a huge problem with spelling changes (Sciok, Krzciuk, Chcuik, you name it) and outright name changes, so it seems just about impossible to track us all down. And in Poland as well as in America, we have tended to large families, so who knows who all is out there! I got an email from Frank Krzciuk of Milford MA, which proves that there are whole generations of Krzciuks out there, too! The bits and pieces of information have been coming in slowly, but there are some breakthroughs. Foremost amongst these is the discovery of the Clayton Chciuk family of New Jersey in the 1920 Census, listing Clayton and his wife Elizabeth, both 30 years old and both born in Poland, along with four (at the time) American-born children: Katherine (born around 1912), John (born in 1914), Joseph (born around 1916) and Anna (born in 1918). The census says Clayton was a laborer at a chemical plant, and that neither he nor Elizabeth could read or write English. So here goes an attempt at Clayton's descendants:
Descendants of Clayton Chciuk, born in Poland around 1890, emigrated to U.S. in 1909.
He was a chemical laborer in Elizabeth, New Jersey in the 1920 Census. Clayton's Polish name was Kajetan. (It may possibly have been spelled Kajatan or Kajaten.) His wife's name was Elizabeth, she was also born in Poland around 1890 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1907. The census reports that they were unable to read and write English.

5. Andrew, born August 25th, 1920, died September 2nd, 1999. Married Katherine in 1950. He was a machinist for Singer, and an Army veteran of World War II. He has four grandchildren.

Descendants of Adam Chciuk, born in Debica, Poland in 1891 (or was it Dzierdziówka on December 14th, 1885?), died in the U.S. in 1939.
His mother's name was Maria. Adam was a barber in Detroit, and his family appear to have settled in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. He married Stephanie Bielatowicz (born in 1893) in Detroit. Adam had three sisters, Maria, Rose and Antoinette.
1. Stephen Chciuk, born March 22nd, 1914. died March 1987. Married Wanda Agnes, who was born around 1913 and died in November of 2004. Their grandchildren are Michelle, Michael, Brian, Laura, Alayne and William, and their great-grandkids are Amber and Jaime. I don't have the details.
______A. Christine Chciuk Johannsen. Married Tom Johannsen. They have two grown kids living in the Detroit area.
______B. Geraldine Chciuk Meinke. She's a PhD Microbiologist.

2. Edward Chciuk, born December 8th, 1915, died January 1978. Married Jennie (born July 25th, 1920, died April 14th, 1996).
3. Harry Chciuk, born May 25th, 1917, died March 15th, 1971. His wife's name was Marie, née Ursu. They had six kids.

Descendants of another Adam Chciuk (born in Majdan Zbydniowski on December 18th, 1886 -- died September 12th, 1961)
Adam Chciuk was born in Poland, and also settled in New Jersey, but we're not sure how Adam's descendants are related to Jozef's descendants. People who are still alive say they were always told the two families were not related. This Adam married Frances Socha on July 7th, 1910 in New York. She was born on March 17th, 1887 in kamien/Nisko, died October 27th 1961 in New York. Adam became a naturalized citizen on June 2nd, 1921 at age 35.
1. Julius Chciuk, born May 20th, 1911 in New York. Christened as Julian Krzciuk, and sometimes listed as being born on June 1st, 1911. Died October 29th, 1992 in New York
_______A. Julian Chciuk, born August 23rd, 1942 in Brooklyn, died December 8th, 2000 in Buffalo Grove IL. Friends called him Butch. He served 25 years in the US Navy.
