Why Blog?
"Ships are safest in the port... but that's not what ships are for."
Blogging, for me, can be cathartic - but that's not necessarily why I do it. It's a chance to be seen and known by others, hopefully genuinely - but that's not necessarily why I do it. Some describe it as geeky, voluntarily voyeuristic, aimless, creative, a cry for edification or validation, even self-serving - it is all of those things - but that's not necessarily why I do it. It gets thoughts and, sometimes, feelings out - but that's not necessarily why I do it.
I blog for none of those reasons and for all of them. My reasons for blogging are probably not your reasons, those should be yours.
I often question why anyone reads my blog, and even though I write for an audience, I'd still blog even if you weren't reading - though I'm glad you are, it keeps me focused, responsible and on my toes.

- I read because deep down, I like humanity. On a daily basis, no, I don't like people much. Between the bad drivers, the rude check-out line people, the punk kids, the dumb parents, the undisciplined children, the freaks-who-need-to-find-themselves, the ardent God-is-a-myth nay-sayers, the haters, the pretentious and the generally unhappy people, I find myself less and less interested in humans as a whole. So when I read your words - which are often funny, sometimes emotional and most of the time just simple, odd-ball takes on your memorable life moments - I am reminded that people can be a lot of different, but I still like them in the end. Deep down, we all have very similar thoughts, desires and mishaps. And there is something very comforting in that knowledge. =)
So that's why I read, that's why I like blogging. Maybe the rest of the world also has a need to enjoy each other.
