Subject: Statement passed by National Board

The Society for Humanistic Judaism at its national board meeting passed the
following resolution on April 30,1995:

PRAYER IN SCHOOLS UNCONSTITUTIONAL

"We are unalterably opposed to a School Prayer Admendment to the
Constitution. Such an amendment would break down the constitutional barrier
between church and state -- which barrier is necessary for the protection of
all of us.  It is not an issue of religion vs. secularism, or even of
liberalism vs. conservatism.  It is a moral issues of tyranny vs. freedom."
