I've just heard Arny talk about this a lot - and it's still somewhat of a
mystery. He describes it in terms of physics - like when an atom enters a
charged "field" something different comes out the other side. It may look
the same or differently/ but it was changed or effected by the field.
In terms of people I think the double is also a term that Don Juan (a
shaman) used. The double is who else you also are - particularly if you let
your second attention (deep intuition - ) be the part that is
acting/perceiving. It may be a concept that is close to your secondary
process but it seems to refer more to who you are (or might be) in
dreamtime - a part of you or another you that knows things or identifies
with things beyond your normal identity.
This is sort of what I've gotten from listening to ARny - it may be all wrong!
but I don't think this is too far off base.
Actually I think another theory is also in the background referring to
matter and anti-matter. Everything that exists seems to have an opposite or
balancing energy - the double may also be what is your anti matter!!!!?
