What have we learned here?

In this module, you read about and experienced some of the factors that make effective e-Learning courses. You also read about topics that could very effectively be taught using e-Learning, as well as topics which would not.

You may be asking yourself if e-Learning is really a good fit for your organization's needs right now. You should now have a sense if the topic or topics needing training are those which are effectively taught with e-Learning. There are many other factors to consider, including:

  • What are the real-world costs for development and delivery?
  • Does your organization have the right skills to do this work?
  • Do you have management support?

  • Do you have enough potential users to justify the cost of purchase or development?

  • Do you have a target audience who can use or learn to use a computer?
  • Will they accept a Web-based program?

  • Will they learn from this particular program?

  • Does e-Learning provide a method of instruction that is easier, faster, cheaper, safer, or more engaging than alternative delivery methods?

Although most of these questions are beyond the scope of the 2-3 hour course we promised to you, we can help you consider and answer them. Please click here to see our contact information page and then give us a call. We'd be glad to discuss your needs with you.

In the next module, you will learn about re-purposing face-to-face classes for e-Learning delivery. Click here to go to that section.
