Northwest Mist
presents
the
Ghost of The Lady Washington
Coming back to the playa with
our second Mutant Vehicle, Northwest Mist has once again reincarnated
the old EZ-GO electric golf cart.
Sailing the dust of the playa like a ghost ship, the deck rides 2 feet
above the alkali waves.
With seating for a driver and seven mates we shall explore new worlds
and new art installations.
Look for us docked near the 3:00 plaza as part of the Reconnection
Connection arm of BRC unofficial public transportation system, or
wandering a playa near you.
Here is a conceptual sketch of The Lady. Dame Diana, our creative
designer has spent countless hours (when her boss thought she was
working) designing in her version of CAD (MS Excel).

..isn't it amazing what you can
do with what you've got to work with.
Of course we had to make that software into hardware. The
pictures below show the current state of The Lady and many progress
shots leading up to now.
On Sunday June 22nd we raised the mast for the first time. Many
thanks to Phil and Cary for helping us today.
Last years MV was a great success on the playa. The setup and
tear down was a different story so this year it was going to be easyer,
I insisted.
We designed a platform that would fold up easily and fit into the horse
trailer. The sketches below show the plan-form for running on the
playa and the plan-form for travel mode.
\The masts will get strapped to the top of the trailer but the whole
rest of the MV folds into a 4' x 8' box on top of the golf car frame
and drives into the trailer.
Here's what it looks like for
real:
Here are some shots of building progress:
..in the second beginning.. there was rain...
struts
the captains cabin
it's shaped like a boat
Gotta have a ship's
wheel
and of course a mostly naked figure head!
Hope to see ya on the playa...
