Learn the joys of ukulele playing with the founder of Portland’s Ukulele Association, Marianne Brogan. Marianne has been teaching for 6 years and specializes in beginners of all ages, private & group instruction. Marianne also travels with loaner ukuleles and teaches at music camps, senior centers and group events.

Private Lesson Description:

Level: Beginning to Advanced Ages 10 and up. All styles and levels. From strumming simple and fun songs to advanced finger picking arrangements. Co-author, with acoustic master Bill Keith, of The Natural Way To Music, An Organic Approach To Understanding & Playing Music, a short course to understanding basic music theory. My approach to the ukulele incorporates ear training, a basic understanding of the major scale, chords and their progressions, learning different strumming and picking techniques, and, of course, playing songs right away! Music genres include children's songs, folk, early jazz and jug band, blues and some Hawaiian.
