Thanks,
Many thank yous to many folks. I can’t mention everyone, so I’ll generalize a bit.
First thanks to my sister Margaret who laboriously transcribed my hen scratches on what ever paper I could find while traveling and entered all these "Epistles" in to her lowly IBM PS1 computer to be emailed to a list of friends who wanted to keep up with my travels.
Thanks next to my parents who at first weren’t too excited about the concept of one of their four boys tootling about the globe in unfamiliar territory on a bicycle, but who eventually warmed to the idea. Then went as far as to start bragging about it. Thanks to Dad for being my home base, being the clerk in my mail forwarding system, and looking after my financial affairs. Thanks to Mom for her endless love and quiet and mind provoking words of support.
Thanks to friends in the recreational organizations I belong to. The Teks’l club, the Oregon Nordic Club, and the Willamette Sailing Club. So many of your comments have encouraged me that I’ll have the adventure of a life time, that it will be worth it. … and you all have been right.
Thanks to all the people at the Living Enrichment Center for helping me learn that with God anything is possible.
An abstract thanks to the place I earned the money for the journey Tektronix and its people. I had an educational 15 years there, met some wonderful people, did some really fun projects, my hats off to the brilliant people who invent the things others need to get their jobs done in this world.
Thanks to Bruce ‘Ole’ Ohlson the instigator of the trip. He put the itinerary together, did most of the research on where its safe to go, and what you need to have when you are there. A virtual encyclopedia on budget travel. An traveler and outdoorsman who does incredible things all while minimizing risks.
Thanks also to the other 21 people involved in the World Wander. Though we did not all travel together you were all a part of the jouney. All contributed in their own way.
Finally, thanks to a fellow named Michael a fellow at the Portland Bike Gallery shop who fit my bike to me. I was often thankful I didn’t suffer form the sore hands, arms, neck, back and shoulders I heard some of my companions complaining of.
