At the PPAA

618 SE Alder (across the street from the Melody Ballroom)

Monday is tango night at the PPAA.  The cover is $6.00.  There is a beginning class from 7:00 - 8:00 taught by Robert Hauk.  After the class there is dancing from 8:00 - 12:00 to classic tango music with DJ Robert Hauk.

You will notice there isn't anyone collecting admission at the door.  This doesn't mean we aren't interested in getting paid, we just ask that you come to the DJ table and put your money into the cash box there.

The class is for absolute beginners, giving them the chance to join in on the dancing later.  This class is also a good warmup for people who are already experienced with tango, and it is a nice way to meet other people in the tango community if you are still fairly new to the scene.

Ward Stevens is my assistant in organizing this milonga.  His sound system is one of the best I have worked with so the music sounds great.  Join us for an evening of dancing with a Buenos Aires Atmosphere.

This is an all ages milonga.  You are requested not to bring your own beverages.  There is a bartender working on Monday nights and you will be able to buy beverages and bottled water.  Alcoholic beverages are available for those over 21.

Painting by Michael Fisher - El Beso
Painting by Michael Fisher

This painting by Michael Fisher captures the feeling of a great Buenos Aires milonga at El Beso.  This club was started by Susana Miller in the late 1990s, and is now run by her son Diego Yepes.  It is the location of a classic milonga Regine.  This painting is very special to me in another way though, Michael took the photo he used as the basis of this painting the night I was the DJ.  I know many pf the people in this photo, and it was a glorious night for me, to be DJing for some of my old milonguero friends, and friends from around the world. Visit Michael's web site for more paintings of Buenos Aires, and Portland.
