 3D Animated Rotor

Here's what we're starting with..

..da plane : 1996 RV-4 (J3-with-a-speed-kit)- N996RV based at HIO, Hillsboro, OR.  Powered by a Lycoming O-320-E2G rated 150hp@2700rpm / 140hp@2450rpm.  Prop is a Sensenich 70CM with 79 inch pitch (cruise prop) limited to 2600 rpm.  High speed cruise is ~170 mph TAS at 7500'-8500'.  I ran this in one R.A.C.E. race at Jackpot Nevada in July 2001 and was clocked at 177 mph over the one lap course.  Race altitude was ~7500 msl, but, density altitude was closer to 10,500.  The plane could use substantial aerodynamic fine tuning.  New style pressure recovery wheel and gear leg fairings would add probably 10 mph to the top speed.

..da engine  : Mazda 13B na (normally aspirated), 6-port engine with extensive porting that has turned it into a very large 4-port engine.  The front cover is from a 12A so it has motor mounts on that end.  This engine was originally built for 1/4 mile racing by Pineapple Racing of Portland, OR.  My "armchair estimate" is an anticipated 200 hp @ 8500 rpm.  This will be turning a prop via a gear reduction of 2.85:1 from Real World Solutions .  Cruise rpm will be 6000 turning the prop ~2100. War-Emergency-Power is 8500 rpm, 3000 at the prop.

More to come as I get 'round to it.
