God told the Hebrews that they should honor the
7th day since that would show they agree that he
was the source of creation. This since God had
built creation in the first 6 "God days" then
rested at the start of the 7th "God day".
Though mentioned in previous articles, the Genesis 1
"God days" are in fact long periods of time, basically
each of the same length, each approximately 2 billion
years in length.
The length of each "God day" is based on the 1st
"God day" having a period of darkness BEFORE the
"pre-sun" star lighting up ("let there be light"),
and then a period of time AFTER the "pre-sun" star
had lit up.
That period of time of darkness God described as
the EVENING and the period of time with light as
the MORNING. The 1st "God day" terms of "evening"
and "morning" are then markers that God used at the
end of each "God day" to basically say a known
amount of time had passed.
Notice though, God did in fact reference that MORNING
at the start elsewhere in the bible. He did so in
Job 38 when he discussed the MORNING STARS that
"sang" together, God said these stars did so at the
foundations of the earth, the "waters" right at the
start of Genesis.
The events discussed were shown in other articles
to align in time slots against the science data and
do so when using 6 "God days" as the basis, the
7th "God day" only just starting.
The Hebrew word "yowm" as a "God day" allows said
usage, a 2 billion year time for each "God day".
But what about the 7th "God day"? What about God
resting?
This one is clearly shown when looking in detail
at the actual verses:
Gen 1:31 And God saw everything that he had made, and,
behold it was good. And the EVENING and the
MORNING were the sixth "God day" ("yowm").
Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished,
and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work
which he had made; and he rested on the
seventh day from all his work which he had
made.
(Notice, God clarified that all creation was finished
after the end of the 6th "God day" and that he
rested or took a break from creation efforts to...)
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified
it; because that in it he had rested from all
his work which God created and made.
(Notice, right after taking a break, God blessed the
7th "God day", but no where does the account say
that God ended the 7th "God day".)
So what about the rest of the Genesis account?
The overall flow of Genesis is that Genesis 1 to
Genesis 2:3 is the description on the scale of
the universe and solar system formation. Genesis
2:4 and onward is the human time scale discussion.
Continuing on, in Gen 2:4 God again uses the term
"yowm" (the same term giving the previous "God day"s)
to then encompass the entire period of all "God days"
in the creation account.
So basically Gen 2:4 refers to ALL TIME of the
creation as simply one period of time.
Why?
Because God is about to describe the LINEAGE of
a people that starts within that discussion of
ALL TIME for our solar system.
Take a look:
Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens
and of the earth when they were created,
in the day ("yowm") that the LORD God made
the earth and the heavens.
To read it in the proper english context:
Gen 2:4 These are the descendents of the heavens
and of the earth when they were created,
in the period of time that the LORD
God made the earth and the heavens.
In other words, God is saying a certain LINEAGE
of people was going to be described that had
NEVER existed before during the entire period
of time the solar system existed and he'd be
starting the discussion at this one verse: Gen 2:4.
The over all flow of Genesis is essentially:
1. Genesis 1 is the PROOF of God having made the
solar system. Science data obviously matches the
account God gave.
2. Genesis 2:4 on, begins a description of a lineage
of people or descendents starting at one man: Adam.
God is being specific in that he's said there
was no such lineage around within the entire
time the solar system existed and that Adam was
the first of that lineage.
Notice, God made NO statement about any other lineage
or how any other lineage started up. God is simply
saying how ONE such lineage started.
In other words, God is DENYING that Adam evolved
since God specifically states Adam formed from
the dust of the ground in a wilderness area with
specific landmarks. That wilderness area was changed
to a garden by God so that Adam could farm the land.
That land was called Eden and it had specific
landmarks around it. The landmarks point to where
Babylon used to be, about 70 miles south of Bagdad
in Iraq.
The clue that other people existed at the time of
Adam is that Cain told God that he thought OTHERS
would kill him... who were the others? Yes, there
were others since Eden was just a local garden
formed out of a wilderness area by God. That garden
was set up for Adam to till the land and raise a
family. Adam's descendents would then hold the
account showing God is the source of creation.
God made it all, Jesus died for our sins.
