Were dinosaurs described in the bible?
Yes, dinosaurs are mentioned in the bible, but
the term used to describe them in the English
text was 'dragons'.
Dragons are mention 35 times in the King James Bible,
but not all mentions of 'dragon' are expected to
refer to dinosaurs. The English translations use the
word dragon when ever dinosaurs and/or other similar
creatures were described.
The definition for the Hebrew term translated to English
that results in 'dragon' is:
08577 tanniyn {tan-neen'} or tanniym (Ezek 29:3) {tan-neem'}
intensive from the same as 08565; TWOT - 2528b; n m
AV - dragon 21, serpent 3, whale 3, sea monster 1; 28
1) dragon, serpent, sea monster
1a) dragon or dinosaur
1b) sea or river monster
1c) serpent, venomous snake
And there in number 1a) you see that dinosaurs
were a possible translation alternate.
Being that God did in fact create all that's
seen, it's fairly clear that dinosaurs would
be a possible item discussed in the bible.
One such spot in the bible where dinosaurs would
have been described would be the following:
Isa 35:7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the
thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of
dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds
and rushes.
Does the existence of dinosaurs conflict with the timing of
of creation events?
No.
The Genesis 1 verse set does allow the existence of dinosaurs
in the 6th "God day", a "God day" being 2 billion years in
length (see the Genesis article).
Said existence of dinosaurs within the last 2 billion years
would easily cover the entire period of time when dinosaurs
existed.
The end result of this is that the bible does both mention
dinosaurs and does in fact have the correct timing for when
they were created.
