The following describes God naming the ARM OF GOD
as his son and the confirmation in the New Testament
that the ARM OF GOD is in fact God's son Jesus.
Previous articles have shown God describing Jesus
as the ARM OF GOD in Isaiah 53 and how only God
himself can save. That we can not save ourselves
or others and that God sent his own ARM to save us
from our sins.
In the Old Testament is another verse with a matching
confirmation found in the New Testament concerning
this same ARM OF GOD, Jesus, God's son:
Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him,
and called my son out of Egypt.
This is of course an English translation of the original
Hebrew. When reviewing against the original Hebrew you
can quickly see:
=============================================================
Hosea 11:1 "When the descendents of Jacob were a servant then
I loved them and named my son out of Egypt."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
=============================================================
Now notice:
1. God said his son has a name in Proverbs 30:4
and that God gathered the SPIRIT in his HAND.
2. God described the man that would match the ARM OF GOD
in Isaiah 53 who would die for OTHERS sins.
3. The New Testament describes the man matching the
ARM OF GOD in Isaiah 53. Jesus himself admitted to
being at least the HAND of God and the Son of God.
4. The ARM OF GOD saved the Hebrews out of Egypt.
5. God said in Hosea 11 that his son was named or
proclaimed when the Hebrews were taken out of
Egypt by the ARM OF GOD.
Given the above, the Hosea 11 verse is tying it all together:
"When the descendents of Jacob were a servant then
I loved them and named my son (the ARM OF GOD) out
of Egypt."
The progression is extremely simple:
1. The ARM OF GOD showed up to save the Hebrews out of Egypt
using MIGHT and POWER.
2. God later said he himself would show up and NOT use MIGHT
nor POWER, but by his SPIRIT (as predicted in Zec 4).
3. The ARM OF GOD showed up again to save OTHERS from their
sins as predicted in Isaiah 53 and described in the New
Testament where Jesus the son of God (and admitted
HAND of God) would die for OTHERS sins and be despised
and rejected by those he came to save.
In other words:
* in Hosea 11 God named or proclaimed the ARM OF GOD as
his son when he saved the Hebrews out of Egypt.
* God further PREDICTED the ARM OF GOD in Isaiah 53
when he said he'd show up to die for OTHERS sins.
* God followed through by sending the ARM OF GOD (Jesus)
to die for the sins of OTHERS.
In the New Testament, Matthew 2:15 confirms that Jesus
is the same one spoken of by Hosea and similar to the
ARM OF GOD coming out of Egypt, Jesus (the ARM OF GOD)
also came out of Egypt.
Specifically, and using the Greek translation alternates:
Mt 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it
might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord
by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I NAMED
my son.
In Matthews context, the ARM OF GOD is a man that Matthew
knew and wrote of similar to that described in Isaiah 53,
but here Matthew openly admits that Jesus is the son described
in Hosea. That son could only be the ARM OF GOD who previously
used MIGHT and POWER to save.
The Matthew verse is entirely right, since God did further
CONFIRM the naming of Jesus as the ARM OF GOD in Isaiah 53
and by previously describing the ARM OF GOD saving the
Hebrews out of Egypt.
The only difference being that the ARM OF GOD used
MIGHT and POWER to save the Hebrews out of Egypt, and
later only used God's SPIRIT to save us from our sins.
God made it all, Jesus died for our sins.
