Notice that Luke's listing does not contain "the son" statement in the original text, it's just a listing of names of near and distant relatives as given "by custom" of Jesus being adopted into Joseph's family. In Matthew, the direct relations are given. Also notice that Luke lists about 55% more relatives than Matthew from King David to Joseph. Obviously Luke is just listing commonly known relations, not a direct path from one person to another. God made it all, Jesus died for our sins.
