Geysers

After 4 days of great fishing we decided a break would be in order so arrangements were made for a site seeing trip to Russia's Yellowstone, the Valley of the Geysers. The only access is via helicopter so we arranged to have the helio pick us up on one of it's sightseeing flights out of Petropavlovsk

...Fishing Day #4....Will be short day on river, 6  of us have decided to tour the Valley of the Geysers.....Board chopper. There are about 12 other tourists, one English couple , rest are Russian. Forty minute flight over amazing country...dormant volcanoes etc....Land in huge caldera for short walk to hot springs. Russian tourists very unruly, always being told to stay on path, hurry up etc..Valley floor blue berries and rose hips. Bears abound, tracks and scat everywhere.

The ME8 in the Valley of the Geysers. Attesting to the isolation of the Peninsula, this national treasure was not discovered until 1941.

The "Valley of the Geysers"

Deep blue water filled craters. Pilot banked and circled in both directions so all passengers could get photos.
One of many "old faithfuls" that erupt on schedule.
