Habitat: The contrast to the “engineered “ watersheds of the Pacific Coast is dramatic. Beginning with the fur trade over 200 years ago followed by mining 100 years later and now irrigation and hydro, man has been transforming the watersheds of the Pacific Coast.	..8:30 PM How it should be...Braided rivers... Not a very good picture but illustrative of rivers that have yet to be engineered. The multiple braided channels were apparent along the their entire length. A better picture borrowed from the Wild Salmon Center. Quite a contrast to the linear rivers of today.

Clear water and clean, silt free gravel everywhere. Fork of the "Zhu" enters on the left, many fish (and bears) were encountered here daily.	Completing the nutrient cycle. The shallows are littered with carcass
