Writers in SisterSpirit

Beyond The First Chapter, SisterSpirit's writing circle, staffed a table for the first time at the third annual Writers' Faire. The event was held at the Multnomah Arts Center on SW Capitol Highway. For those who weren't able to attend the event, copies of books and periodicals containing the work of various SisterSpirit members will be available through November and December at the SisterSpirit office.

We will also have a table for book sales at our annual Holiday Celebration and Reading party, December 22nd, 7 p.m. in the SisterSpirit office, 3430 SE Belmont. The following SisterSpirit members will have published materials for sale at that time:
Barbara Mor; Winter Ditch & Other Poems - Barbara is the author of the classic feminist book, The Great Cosmic Mother (The book's graphic art was by the late Monica Sjoo, but Barbara wrote the manuscript.) Her poetry from the period of Winter Ditch is considered part of the serious body of Poetry of Place for Northern New Mexico. Price: $5.00 (Barbara is donating the sale of these books to SisterSpirit, for which we thank her very much.)

Rev. Frodo Okulam; Julian of Norwich (Jamie, I know this isn't the title. I don't have a copy here at the house, so look in her box of books and fix the title, please. Sorry) This is the book that came out of the research Frodo did in preparation for her Master of Theology degree from Mt. Angel Seminary. It may be the most readable theology book you will ever see. (No; Pat's bias showing here, it is very well written.) $7.95

Annette-White Parks: Bridge Work: A Novel. I reviewed Annette's book for a previous issue of Spirited Women, and definitely recommend it. The setting is in Mendocino County during the period that transitioned the area between farming and logging, and the arrival of the condominium builders, and the conflicts and losses that occurred. $14.95

Pat MacAodha had a poem published in the Spring issue of Windfall Journal of Poetry of Place. I also have copies of the Fall issue. One issue is $5 and a subscription (2 issues annually) is $10.(I've also had a piece published in Sinister Wisdom, #65, but that is available at In Other Words Bookstore on SE Hawthorne Blvd.

If anyone else in SisterSpirit has a book, periodical, chapbook, etc. available for sale, and would like to have it on the book sale table at our Holiday Party and Reading, please contact Pat at patmac31@juno.com or by calling the SisterSpirit office, (503) 736-3297.

We hope the SisterSpirit community will support its artists, writers, photographers, etc.
