For a log that can be expected to be all of one type, outer context should be omissible. A program that doesn't undertand context information should be able safely to ignore it, if its assumptions don't conflict with what's stated there.
The format for events within the game is based almost entirely on a two-column format called log2 because that format is quite natural for human reading. (The only alteration to log2 format is that the first player may appear on the right. This allows all of a player's logs to show him or her on the left column.)
