SARA - ABOUT MY WORK
2000
» I am a large
vessel inclined to run fully on influences and impulses. This vessel
started filling up with little Nemo,
crazy glass blowing parties, National Geographic and Gaudi. The
massive world of American, Spanish, French, British, Italian, Swedish,
Moroccan, Greek, Czech, German, Indian, Nepalese, Thai, Indonesian,
and Chinese archiculture built this vessel of mine. Inside are those
places of travel. They are filtered and strong and in my art find
there way out to breathe.«
» My new works of oils
on wood panels physically inspire me and I become energized by them.
They feed this vessel and in the process of creating I feel that
it is not me at all, and that I am just doing. All the time aware
that it is me but in the end wonder where it came from. Most of
my new pieces give the viewer the power to be in a vision that has
not yet occurred. What I am trying to say is, the viewer becomes
insightful about what is about to happen. The viewer could be the
angel, the guide or the presenter of the vision. This vision is
usually for a specific figure in the piece. This is my understanding
of these new works. Sometimes it take me a few months to understand
the narrative behind the colorful, playful, stoic images. It is
a mystery to me how the artwork gets out of this vessel, the me
and into being. I live for the excitement of a vision unfolding.«
