The Great Trompete is the magnificent horizontal reed shown in the picture. It is one of only two such in Portland (the other being on the Rene Marceau organ at St. Michael's Lutheran near the campus of Concordia University).

Stoplist graciously sent in by Will Scarboro of Melbourne, Florida U.S.A. Will was OHS's 1996 E. Power Biggs Fellow.

Photo scanned by Mark Huth of Portland, who recalls: The Dedication Concert was played by none other than E. Power Biggs (who also signed the casework inside and reportedly loved the organ). The mechanical action features stainless steel trackers!

Other famous signatures inside the organ case include: Marilyn Mason, Odille Pierre and other notables who performed on the instrument.

David Aeschliman reports further: Biggs did dedicate the organ with a series of three recitals. He also forgave the parish of a substantial portion of his fee -- since they were short of cash at the time and paying his fee in total would have bankrupted the parish. The instrument was designed by E. Power Biggs in collaboration with David Dahl and Glenn White who owned Olympic Organbuilders of Seattle at the time.

This organ was featured at the AGO Regional in 1995. About this organ, the reviewer at that time said simply, "Dating from 1966, this neo-Baroque instrument was designed to do justice to the earlier repertoire . " --Joseph Adam (TAO, Oct. 95, p68).
