OK, sure you can visit Salt Lake anytime you want. However, in the space of four short days you could never take in all the great music venues, sights, sounds, artists, the experience that you will have by simply coming to the convention. There is no way! Tabernacle Choir, New Convention Center Schoenstein, Orchestra... And the price is so very reasonable!

Who's coming to Salt Lake?

I trust you have been inviting your constituents to this influential gathering?

Registrar Paul Griffin reports the following breakdown by Region of the (now) 400 who will attend:

chart IX = 200 folk will attend from Region IX, representing 9.5 % of total members of that region.

VIII = 100 folk are scheduled from Region VIII, representing 13% of our entire regional membership! Way to go Region VIII!

WHAT IS "OTHER?" Arguably the BEST regional convention choice this season, 100 folks are registered from: Canada, Connecticut. Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.

My money says no other '03 Regional Convention can top this! (Call it local pride!)

Wanted: Host chapter for 2007 Region VIII Convention

HELP WANTED: Region VIII is searching for chapter to host our 2007 Region VIII Convention. Any takers? Chapters who have hosted a regional report a resurgence of member activity and increased chapter vitality. Plus, the host chapter realizes a huge financial profit as a bonus! There has never, ever been a chapter that later regretted the experience!

Since Yellowstone Chapter, hosting 2005, is in the East, the next convention should by rights go to a more Westerly chapter. What do you say Les Bois? Seattle? Tacoma? Portland? Any one else?

Deadline for 2007 Regional Convention bids: 1/1/04 Best bid wins!

Who can bid to host? It doesn't have to be a big chapter such as Seattle or Portland. On the contrary, smaller chapters, some with as few as 20 active members, have successfully produced Regional Conventions.

How to get started? Have a chapter "brainstorming" session at a coming meeting. I have a questionnaire that may help trigger the thought process. Decide what the level of interest may be! Write to me privately and I will send you an e-copy.

Where can we get help? Visit the National AGO web page for downloadable documents, www.agohq.org/docs/doc.html and scroll down to "Competitions and Conventions." Here you will find two documents which will walk you through every step of the way!
